Victorian Rococo Revival Enamel Demi-Parure in 14K Gold
This Victorian Rococo Revival demi-parure showcases an intricate scrolling floral motif throughout and consists of a matching pendant and earrings accented with colourful enamel work.
Enamelling is considered a highly specialized art form, requiring tremendous skill, patience, and precision. Today, few artisans continue to practice traditional enamelling techniques, making surviving examples such as this increasingly desirable.
Every element of the design demonstrates thoughtful craftsmanship. The scrolling goldwork is individually formed, with subtle variations throughout the set. A wonderful example can be seen in the earrings, where each suspended gold scroll curves in a different direction, creating movement and visual interest rather than strict symmetry.
The set is crafted from 14 karat yellow gold and decorated with blue, white, and gold enamel. The earrings retain their original lever-back fittings, a style commonly found in Victorian jewellery but seldom seen in modern designs.
Considering that the pendant and earrings have remained together for well over a century, this is a particularly special surviving set from the Victorian era.
Please note that there is some wear to portions of the enamel on the pendant and one earring, consistent with age and use.
