Birks Diamond Ring, GIA G/VS1, c. 1940s–1950s

Created by the renowned Canadian jeweller Birks, this elegant vintage diamond ring dates to approximately the late 1940s to early 1950s and remains in remarkable condition.

At its center is an early round brilliant-cut diamond accompanied by a GIA report stating a weight of 0.24 carat, G colour, and VS1 clarity. The diamond retains a small open culet, a characteristic feature of transitional round brilliants from this period and a fascinating link between antique and modern diamond cutting styles.

The ring is crafted from 14 karat yellow gold with an 18 karat white gold ring head, a two-tone construction frequently seen in fine jewellery of the era. The surrounding diamonds are bright, lively, and well matched to the center stone.

Founded in 1879, Birks became one of Canada's most respected luxury jewellers and supplied jewellery to members of the British Royal Family during the twentieth century. This ring is a beautiful example of the firm's craftsmanship and enduring design.
