Legend says that the marquise shape came from a commission in the late 1740s by King Louis XV of France.

During the Bal des Ifs (Ball of the Yew Trees), held by King Louis XV at the Palace of Versailles in 1745, he had his first meeting with Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson.
The mask she wore obscured her facial features, leaving only her lips visible. Believing them to be “the perfect set of lips,” the King commissioned a diamond cut to represent her smile.
Within months, she became the King’s mistress, was officially recognized at Versailles, and was granted the title of Marquise de Pompadour.
Marquise/Marquis is an aristocratic title which in the french court would be below a Duke (Duc): the highest rank below the Royal family, but above a Count (Comte), Viscount (Vicomte), and Baron. 

The center marquise cut lab grown diamond is set east-west in a homage to how the stone would have been originally set, as if representing lips. This is accented by sixty-two pavé set lab grown diamonds.

This item bears our logo and a metal purity mark (PLAT for platinum), it also comes with a certificate of origin documenting the serial number, authenticity, and purchase date.

The Inspiration ring is fabricated from Platinum and was designed using a wax casting process with hand finishing.
