Art Deco Aquamarine, Pearl, and Diamond Platinum Pendant
A striking example of Art Deco design, this pendant combines platinum workmanship with the clean geometric lines that define the period.
The piece has survived in excellent condition and appears to have been worn very little over the years.
Handmade entirely from platinum, including the pendant, bale, and chain, it represents a level of craftsmanship that is increasingly uncommon. Platinum is significantly more difficult to work with than gold and requires considerable skill to fabricate by hand.
At the centre is an antique oval-cut aquamarine in a millegrain platinum bezel setting. Rows of seed pearls frame the aquamarine and create the strong linear symmetry associated with Art Deco jewellery.
Running alongside the pearls are eighteen graduated single-cut diamonds, each surrounded by delicate millegrain detailing. At the end of each row is a bezel-set diamond topped by a stylized fan motif containing four additional diamonds, finished with intricate filigree and millegrain work.
Suspended from the base of the pendant is an egg-shaped pearl drop, fully drilled and securely mounted.
The bale features a fluted finish and, like the pendant and chain, is crafted from platinum.
The pearl drop displays slight natural dimpling, which is consistent with a natural pearl. The overall condition of the jewel is excellent.
